I'm not grumpy about paying my "fair share". But I sort of hope to die before the "death tax" exemption expires in 2010. (not really, only in principle)
Briefly my music system, much of it built by myself, consists of Klipsch based mid bass woofers, a subwoofer below 45 HZ or so, midrange through 7 watt tube single ended amplifier with Lowther speakers in large, beautiful (to me) Oris horns, and separate tweeters, all through separate amplifiers and electronic crossover. The midrange horns make the system different. I use a good CD player from Musical Fidelity and a turntable from Kuzma for records. It's been my lifelong hobby, or obsession, and this system is very satisfying over the past 5 years, the longest interval so far. Maybe because my ears are getting old, but i don't think so.

Hey, pobaby!  I've got an excellent sound system too.  It's called: my four happy granddaughters laughing.  There is no other music to compare with the sound of pure joy! &^%

Oh, nota, I feel your pain.  I felt it on a daily basis twenty to thirty years ago.  Hang in there.  The pain goes away when the kids move out.

P.S. You can send grandchildren home to their parents (YOUR CHILDREN ~ Revenge is sweet!) >:D

:roflmao:  I think Boys are born with the instinct to fight.  Thee years between them makes alot of difference.  My 5th Grader thinks he knows it all.  So my 2nd  grader thinks he has to prove he knows it all.   :bang:  If one wants  eggs and bacon for breakfast the other wants pizza.  I think I went from mommy to referee a few years back *cryeye*

I still have some of the equipment I bought in the early 70's. A Pioneer SX525, a Garrard Zero 92 and a pair of large Advents (absolutely pure sound with no coloration whatsoever.)

One of these days, when I can afford it. I plan to have the large Advents refurbished. My daughters blew out the woofers on them.

BoD, I still have four "larger" advents, they were well made except the woofer foam cone surround tends to rot out, that's probably what happened to yours.  If there is enough foam left to support it, you can repair them yourself using flexible gasket silicone. However, to do a better job, you can get foam repair kits from parts express. parts-express.com. You can afford it today, I feel quite sure.

Thanks for the info. But mine are too far gone. I found a place where I plan to buy new woofers here

Mine are a little different. They just want MORE than what the other has. *Sighs*
