That's fine, but what makes the word of God more valid than the words of the god(s) of any of the world's other (and sometimes older) religions?
For me it's alive and real. I know that sounds like jibberish to a non believer, but I've seen God work in my life and other people too. I've also been knee deep in evil and know that it's the opposite of God's will. I'll give an example of God speaking to me through others that I'm sure you'll pass off as mere coincidence. One Sunday this summer I went to Church as usual and listened to the sermon, but didn't get any feeling that the sermon was God's word for me. The next night I went to a revival service at Eggleston with my biker buddies. The evangelist was from Kentucky and knew nothing of my pastor, least of all what he preached the day before. This fellow gave the same message, with completely different language. There was one bit of similarity, they both used an obscure quote from Charles Wesley. My pastor quoting Wesley didn't raise an eyebrow, since he's a Methodist pastor, but when this Church of God pastor gave the same quote it floored me. I knew the message was for me, and since I didn't get it on Sunday, God sent it to me again on Monday. I could sit here for hours telling how God has worked in my life, but to believe any of it, a person has to open their heart.
