Of course there's a plan, that's one of the tenets of Christianity. That's what I'm trying to say. I just can't believe everything happened by chance. There's way too many relationships in nature, the earth and moon are a good example, that are so intricate and with the end result being a perfect balance. As an earlier post stated I find it so funny that people have no qualms whatsoever believing it's all by chance, a chance so small we couldn't even begin to fathom the odds of happening, and on the other hand mock people of faith.

Small doesn't equal nonexistent. And just because we can't explain every facet of the process doesn't mean it was started by a divine being.

The moon and the earth have a gravitational relationship. If there were no moon, the earth wouldn't have it's tilt from perpendicular and the rotation would have a wobbling effect. Without the tilt the seasons wouldn't be defined.

Axial tilt isn't unique to the Earth, though - other planets have a degree of axial tilt very close to that of Earth's without the influence of a large companion body: Mars, Saturn and Neptune.

I never said it was unique to earth. What I said was the moon helps maintain that tilt which plays a major role in our seasons.

So the presence of seasons is evidence of a divine being, then?

There's nothing stupid about having faith. What is stupid is using it as an excuse to ignore or refuse to believe all that humanity has learned about this world we live in.

If you or a loved one got sick--really sick--would you sit at home and pray or go see a doctor?

And then the Invisible Man in the Sky swooped down and rained lightning bolts on the bad people.

Tell me, Iris, are you sure you're going to Heaven? What makes you so sure? "When I'm called to Heaven"... you're awfully confident. Do you presume to know the mind of God?

I'll give you my thoughts. We are assured by the word of God. It's full of comfort and assurance for the person who is born again. Reminds me of that old hymn, "Blessed Assurance," but I shouldn't expect you to be familiar with that.  &^%

That's fine, but what makes the word of God more valid than the words of the god(s) of any of the world's other (and sometimes older) religions?

I think it comes down to believin' or not believin'. It is kind of hard to prove either point. Lord knows I fall short in many ways but I choose to believe there is a creator. it is just a gut feelin' I get. Can't explain it.

Best regards,
Duke (I can't explain) Jupiter

For me it's alive and real. I know that sounds like jibberish to a non believer, but I've seen God work in my life and other people too. I've also been knee deep in evil and know that it's the opposite of God's will. I'll give an example of God speaking to me through others that I'm sure you'll pass off as mere coincidence. One Sunday this summer I went to Church as usual and listened to the sermon, but didn't get any feeling that the sermon was God's word for me. The next night I went to a revival service at Eggleston with my biker buddies. The evangelist was from Kentucky and knew nothing of my pastor, least of all what he preached the day before. This fellow gave the same message, with completely different language. There was one bit of similarity, they both used an obscure quote from Charles Wesley. My pastor quoting Wesley didn't raise an eyebrow, since he's a Methodist pastor, but when this Church of God pastor gave the same quote it floored me. I knew the message was for me, and since I didn't get it on Sunday, God sent it to me again on Monday. I could sit here for hours telling how God has worked in my life, but to believe any of it, a person has to open their heart.

If you are a born again,Bible reading,God fearing,God believing  Christian, then, YES !  Yes, you will be confident that you know the path God wants for you to follow and you just know that you know that you are Heaven bound.Gods Word reveals Himself inside the pages for the Believer. For the non-believer it is all jibberish.

Sorry, but I don't remember his name. He was a young man, probably no older than his early thirties. He was married with two or three little ones.
