All you have to do is drive through the parking lot of one of our area schools to see they're not underpaid. If they are, somebody needs to tell them about driving a vehicle that suits their income.  :roflmao:

Now that is not like you Gray!  I know a teacher whose husband is an accountant thus this would change her "Car status".  You can't always judge a book by its cover! :sneeky:

How true!

Plus you have to make sure you're looking at the teacher parking lot and not the students'.

In our school, the teacher lot is filled with rusting old junkers, while the student lot is filled with cars that most of us will never be able to afford.

:roflmao:  Too Funny.  Many of our teachers bought their kids new cars and paid for College and are still working even though they could retire.

I was thinking about Princeton Middle School. I don't think any of the students are driving, but you never know. We had a couple of kids driving when I went to what was then junior high, but it did include the ninth grade back then.  :roflmao:

I'm sorry if my comment came off as rude, but we beat this horse before. I think teachers in our area make a decent salary. If they continue their education they make darn good money. I would say that Steve and Debbie Akers are pretty good evidence of that. They both started as teachers, kept on going to school, and made it to the extremely comfy level by most folks standards. I know all teachers can't or don't want to be administrators, but they make decent money from a four year degree, and daggone good money with a doctorate.

Typical liberalism, so long as we all are happy  about it it will be ok.  It does not matter that the kids can  not read, write do simple math, so long as every one is happy.

Then the over paid and under worked teachers have the nerve to ask for a raise.

Over paid and under worked?   :roflmao:

Actually, no I refused to join for political reasons.

But I'm a teacher.  Your Mercer Co. teachers may very well be making the bucks, but in the counties where I've taught, south of the border, that's not the case, I assure you.  My car was bought used and is several years old.

And as for under worked, I don't think anyone but a teacher could attest to the time spent outside the classroom.  When my kids were babies, I would come home and spend time with them til they went to bed, then stay up to the wee hours working on plans, grading, etc.

You can't just call in sick.  You have to prepare plans and find a sub even when you won't be there.  Its more trouble to miss work than its worth.

Wonder why the Kanawah county school system had to institute a bonus system for teachers to get them to show up for work? Show up for work, receive a bonus.
