Good riddance to that monstrosity pictured.

It will be sad to see some of them go, though.

yeah the new g8 is a pretty sweet looking car.

The rest of their lineup is only good for rental though.

I listened to Hoppy K. this morning and he interviewed John McElroy of autolinedetroit.tv and he said the government was behind GM dumping Pontiac. GM wanted and had plans to market Pontiac as a niche brand, going back to real wheel drive and big HP. That ticks me off that government is getting that involved in business.

Me too. I like the big HP and rear wheel drive cars. Had me a few nice Pontiacs over the years. Mostly Trans Ams and LeMans.

Best regards,
Duke (gonna miss the Pontiacs) Jupiter

Pontiac has been saying that for years Tony. They brought the Holden-based GTO here a few years ago and it flopped. This year they "introduced" the gorgeous G3--a rebadged version of the hideous Chevy Aveo. Their biggest success in decades has been the Solstice--a good looking but abysmally unreliable convertible.
Pontiac gave itself the kiss of death Tony.

I agree...but too much little too late?

I would have thought Buick would be the better axe to drop, but apparently Buick is highly regarded and a  big profit maker in China.

Those GTO's were bland lookin' but they sure perform and ride well.

I thought it was one of the nicest things out of Detroit in a while, Duke. Never drove one though.

I agree Duke. (sweating) When they first announced the return of the GTO I imagined a retro-look similar to the Mustang and some Chrysler remakes. The GTO they came out with was ugly but had performance. I owned a 65, 67 GTO and A 70 GTO Judge. I still kick myself for selling that baby.
