I tell you what...you stick to your facts.....Me?  I will take my faith anyday. :39:

What happens when we die? Do we go to Heaven or Hell?  Are we ghosts?  Are we reincarnated?  Any ideas?

How else ya gonna answer these questions unless we use facts.

Faith has had thousands of years to prove its validity.

No question has ever been answered by doing this.

Many questions are answered...often times we don't like the answers so we ignore them or try to disprove them.I tell you what...you stick to your facts.....Me?  I will take my faith anyday.

Here's a question I'd like to see the answer to ....

We're pretty sure that the universe was created by the Big Bang.

What actually caused the Big Bang?2 branes colliding with each other? All I know is that no religious text provides the answer to that question but it might get answered in a physics lab.

Ah .... but we don't KNOW that do we? It's an interesting component of String Theory. But the String Theory still has many detractors. And even its most ardent supporters don't agree on all its aspects.

The Torah, upon which both the Old Testament and the Koran is based, has been attributed to the revelation to Moses in 1312 BC at Mount Sinai, although some scholars place it earlier.

I don't think we can ever definitively say which is the oldest.

I think that serious Bible scholars definitively place the oldest versions of the OT at about 1000-900 BCE.  Of course, until the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest surviving manuscripts only dated to a few hundred years after Christ.  The Dead Sea Scrolls were all penned during the period dating from about 250 BCE to about 68 CE. The idea that Moses authored the first 5 books has pretty much been abandoned.  No one has ever attributed the rest of the OT to Moses.  I don't think anyone believes that the Koran, which was written between 610 and 632 CE.  is based on the Torah although it shares many stories with the Torah.  Then the Torah also shares stories with other writings of the Middle East.

Ah .... but we don't KNOW that do we?And I didnt answer defenitively. It's an interesting component of String Theory.I agree. But the String Theory still has many detractors.True. And even its most ardent supporters don't agree on all its aspects.Lets subject christianity or any other faith to peer review and see how it comes out. Thats the difference between science and religion. Science might, at times, resist change but it cant stop it. Facts will prevail over dogma. And Astronomy is a perfect example of scientific facts upsetting the apple cart.

If John was seeing into the future, surely the four horsemen would be driving a Mustang, not riding one.

whatmeworry, the difference is that astronomy is the study of the stars and planets and their movements. Religion is a search for spiritual meaning and ethical values.

Not any more. Religion is a search for spiritual meaning and ethical values.Thats what they say. I dont see it.
