Maryland # 1 - AGAIN!!!!!

Md. ranks as No. 1 in public education

WASHINGTON - For the third consecutive year, "Education Week" ranked Maryland's public education system as the best in the nation on its Quality Counts 2011 Report Card.



Virginia (#4) and West Virginia (#10) didn't do too bad either ....

I know that states and evidently the study you posted paint a rosy picture with the state of education but, why are we so far down the list when compared with other industrialized nations?

New Mexico's K-12 education system gets a C from the Quality Counts 2011 report by Education Week.

The state’s 75.7 score is below the national average of 76.3. Twelve states received B grades, led by No. 1 Maryland at 87.6, none received grades of A. Only two states, Nebraska and South Dakota, and Washington, D.C., received grades of D. <----- Whoooa! *eek5*



In all, Education Week grades states on 17 categories. New Mexico received its best grades in standards, assessments and accountability, an A-.
It did the worst in K-12 achievement, an F. <---- whoooa!

Opinion yes. I blame parents for not pushing their kids to study and do better. I blame tenure to a certain degree. If we could get the worst 5 percent of bad teachers out of the classroom things would get better.  Eliminate the bad teachers and reward the good ones. We need to get back to reading, math, science and core subjects and eliminate a bunch of the PC things added to school curriculum.

I will give you one Bo and I can hear the screaming thats about to follow. Black history MONTH in public schools. We dont teach enough world history but we can devote one whole month to King. Now if hispanic folks want a month reckon they will get it? Ther are other items but I will leave it at that. Let the insults begin.
