my husband has been transferred several times over the years and there are good and bad stores...a lot depends on the store manager.  my husband makes a very good living. we will never be rich but both of us have worked hard all of our lives  and made good money. i was a nurse before i retired. walmart has been good to him.  :)

attala,
I wasn't being "snotty".
The guy likes pumping septic tanks because nobody is looking over his shoulder.
They just give him the address where to pump and leave him alone to do his work.
Some people prefer to work that way (I always did).
Most people jump to the "obvious" conclusion that the smell must be terrible, but he doesn't seem to mind.
Either he's gotten used to it, he uses vapo-rub under his nose, or his sense of smell isn't very acute.

My point was, a "minority opinion" isn't necessarily wrong.

I was actually SUPPORTING your position.

Some people are fanatical in their support for George Washington.
They practically worship at "Mount Vernon".

Well I go to the Walmart in Bluefield, Virginia and I see some dedicated employees. If fact, I know some of them and they are people just like us and they have feelings. Bashing these employees or the managers is wrong. I have never had a problem with any of the people who work there, the service or the products at Walmart since I have been shopping at Walmart. If fact, I don't see people there who look like the pictures that have been posted in this thread. Most people look like nota, me and the rest of the ones that I know on this forum. I will be at Walmart in the morning around 10:!5 buying me a valued watch. My Timex band just broke. It is old anyway. Walmart has the best prices for the kind of watch that I wear. My friend's wife works the jewerly counter at Walmart in Bluefield, Virginia. I will tell her how you people talk about her and the others who work there. You people should be ashamed of yourself for denigrating people who I know some that have serious health problems. A couple of the greeters at the Bluefield, Virginia Walmart are using oxygen and have their oxygen tank with them while they work. Why should we cast bad comments their way? Many workers cannot help their appearance because of medical complications. Get real people and show some compassion. I just met today with some conservatives here in Tazewell who told me that if people want to eat they should work and we should make every effort to remove them from the government's payroll. I looked around the room and asked one simple question. Who among you is willing to turn back your government check, everyone in the room was over 65? They too should have been ashamed but they only think of themselves. They, to a person, told me they earned their government checks. Sad, really~!

Mr. V, I was by no means making fun of their looks.  I have friends who work at Walmart.  However some of the cashiers there and floor workers leave alot to be desired.  Some are just plain rude.  Others are friendly but walmart is not my favorite place to shop.  If I go it is early morning or late night.  It is not just the workers put the patrons who are pushy and rude also.  I have seen more fights at walmart than one would imagine.  (And before you ask...no I do not participate.) :roflmao:  The greeters are generally friendly and pleasant to deal with.

But don't make fun of the People of Walmart?

Here's to the Walmartians!  :roflmao: :roflmao:

i wasn't referring to the people who dress crazy and come into walmart, bo. i was talking about the post that inferred all walmart employees were lacking in the intellectual department.my post was also in answer to  the disdain that a lot of people have for walmart itself. i was pointing out in one of my post the good they do.

Wow! I didn't know Walmart had an Intellectual Department! Is it over by sporting goods?

Yeah, I know there are good people that work there. And there are good Democrats, good liberals, etc., etc., but that doesn't stop you people from compartmentalizing.

How does that shoe feel on the other foot?

I know a fellow who works at the Walmart in Princeton. He's college educated, a veteran, and also inherited enough money as to not have to work. He chooses to work there as opposed to not working at all. Granted, he doesn't work there because he depends on the paycheck, but if it were a lousy place to work he certainly wouldn't be there.

Oh, come on, Gray. Like I said, I know there are good people there. I think what I did just illustrates the silliness of stereotyping.

Hey! I'm an IT geek. Let's make fun of them too!

If you really want to see a collection of the strange (customer's that is) go to Toys-R-Us about 3:00AM a week or two before Christmas (many of them are open 24 hours/day during the Christmas season).
You don't think about "biker type" and hard core barflies having kids, but many of them DO. And they do their shopping after the bars close.

There's nothing weirder than seeing some big beefy heavily tattooed biker checking out "Barbie's Dream House" for his daughter, while singing along with the Christmas Carols playing over the sound system.
 :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

(Maybe next year, I'll take pictures.)
