Here is what a reputable medical doctor (I looked him up) has to say about the "wonder drug."

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
letters@washpost.comWhy Athletes and Pot Shouldn’t Mix
Published: December 18, 2011
As a physician, I am disappointed that Courtland Milloy used the phrase “wonder drug” in writing about marijuana [“Marijuana’s risks huge for athletes, but so are benefits,” Metro, Dec. 14].
Sadly, he also did not give a clear enough voice to conclusions of the study by Marilyn A. Huestis and Irene Mazzoni, who state that [/b] “the detrimental health effects of cannabis and its violation of the spirit of sport supports the prohibition of cannabis and its analogues.”
Mr. Milloy said the risks are “well known,” but he should have emphasized them more strongly.
These include: enhancing poor decision making and increasing the probability of injuries, psychosis, panic attacks and lung toxicity.
A better headline for his column could have been “The risks of athletes smoking pot.”
Unfortunately, Mr. Milloy’s column may give some of our youths in sports the encouragement they crave to attempt to enhance performance through marijuana use. These youths may end up with serious physical, mental health or legal problems as a result.
