Wish me luck, Dudes! (and Dudettes!)

Congrats! Once you get past the first week, you've got it licked. (Speaking from experience)

Thanks, y'all!

The thing that worries me right now is that everything smells and tastes so d*mn good! I worked for a long time to get my weight back down to a comfortable level. I'm 6'4" and a year ago I weighed 215. I got down to 190 and I would like to keep it there.

Stock up on sugar-free hard candy. It's not your regular meals that will do you in, it's the junk food you'll inevitably go for between meals.

Good job! Speaking from experience, I know its tough. But if you made it this long, you are good to go.

I really, really, really appreciate the tips, Dude!

I have already started with some sugarless gum. I am a little surprised how much of the habit is oral.

Thanks for the encouragement. You might have to watch over me though!  :ignore: Did you all have a short fuse when you were quitting?

YES! Big time. To the point where people would tell me to just go smoke.

Don't stress about the weight issue.  You probably will gain a few pounds for awhile but You can lose it again later!   Losing weight is much easier than quitting smoking, and the extra lung capacity you will have will make exercise ALOT easier.

edit: doggone dial-up! (takes me 5 min to make a 'post')  235*

As for the weight.
I kept a bag of raw celery or carrots handy...to hold and much when I wanted one.
Also, when I was at home...Id do 20 crunches everytime I thought real hard about smoking. I gained a few pounds, but lost it pretty quickly.

Lord, yes. I thought it had passed long ago, but I still get the occasional suggestion to "go smoke" when attending a meeting/asschewing.  ab7*
