Libby's thread
« on: February 09, 2007, 10:43:39 AM »
Hey Libby,  I see your getting to post some but gather your still having some difficulties with P.M's and such.  We've turned some functions off, like the spell check and the weather function wondering if it was one of the packages we added but don't know if you've had any improvements or not.  Can you update us on how it's going now for you and maybe someone here will be able to help figure out what's going on with your ability to post and P.M.  I gather the posting issue has somewhat improved?  But not the P.M. function.  what happens when you try to send a private message?

I think all she can use is the quick reply function. IIRC she can't even see the regular message editor, and so can't do PMs or post in the usual fashion. I don't think chat works for her, either.

It's possible that SMF itself just won't work with WebTV anymore. It has been updated several times since this forum was first put online, maybe one of the updates to the script is responsible.

From what I understand if was fine till the 31st.  We've been backtracking ourselves trying to figure what we may have changed since the 31st and the only thing we can come up with for sure was that we added the spell checker and some smileys.  We've changed her smiley settings to default and removed the spell checker and a few misc. functions.  Wonder what model webtv she's using?  Ive read some in smf but can't find anything on the topic though maybe I could research webtv some and come up with something.

Maybe.   :headslap:  Package that may not agree with web-tv?  You know we like to play with all the bells and whistles.  *kit*

I don't understand how a package could break anything relating to how WebTV renders a page - packages add functionality but you've still the same version of php spitting out the code that a browser interprets. This is a job for our resident php expert.  *stars&

:1:  I was thinking more on the lines of it being a java problem with some of the new packages.   But anyway.....Libby,  what model web tv are you using?

Hi. I just now saw this thread. I first got webtv in 2001 so I could exchange e-mails with old friends and family without any connection to my work. It is a conduit to the internet. No hard drive. I updated once - 3-4 years ago, so this version is old.  It was more userfriendly before MSN bought out webtv. MSN shuts me down fairly often to "update" but they are definitely not chat friendly, especially where java (or is it javascript - I can't remember now) - is concerned. There for a while I called and tried to get specific answers about problems with chatrooms, but they basically blew me off. I'll be the first to admit I am not computer saavy. Until I got webtv I used my computer at work more like a word processor - to write.

Tattoo is correct. I can get PMs but can't send them. I can read and post, but only in Quick Reply (quote, modify & preview don't work).

Just a thought, Suzi... has the default (Core) theme been updated lately?

Nota: I couldn't even post here earlier. Let's see if this works (I only had 3 cookies).
