TuPak (the vet's choice of how to spell it, and my son's choice also)  covers his poo like a cat.  My son covered the gound of his kennel with straw.  The dog covers his poo with the straw.  Of course, my son has to hunt in the straw to find it when he cleans the kennel.

The dog I had while growing up would always scratch around after doing his business, as to imply he was trying to cover it up.. He never actually did, though..  Interesting to know my dog wasn't the only one...    :wavie:

Straw is not good for dogs skin, he should get some cedar shavings instead..the smell of the cedar helps with controlling fleas.  male dogs will scratch after doing their business, it's s ign of agression and marking territory.

The straw is in the kennel, Moondance.  We do plan to get some cedar chips for his igloo.

He will lay on the straw though outside and it cabn dry their skin out...He needs to remove the straw...actually if he can rotate the kennel from spot to spot would be best....Grass is best.

Moondance, this kennel is larger than my kitchen.  It would be very hard to move.  He really likes his straw.  I'll tell my son about it.  He can watch for skin problems.  Thanks.

Cool, he may want to consider what we have too for our pit....we have a 40 foot cable with a 15 foot heavy chain and he can actually run with it....we can play fetch and such with him on his line.  Gives him the opportunity to run without getting into trouble...the rest of the time he's in the house, LOL.

We have that, too.  It was part of the demands that the Humane society made for him. When he is home, my son uses the cable and chain.   My son plans to let Tupak in the house some when he can.  He plays fetch with Tupak, also.  He put a tarp over the kennel to keep the sun out.
