« on: July 31, 2007, 09:41:31 AM »
Abortion,  for it ?  against it?  Why or why not?  Are there times when you can be both?  why or why not?  Is it a religious matter or a pro choice matter?  Come on guys lets get opions without a fight...what do you say?  Anyone up for the challenge?

I can understand the need for abortion in extreme circumstances. That does not change the fact that I deplore the act and would do anything I could to find an alternative.

Ditto.
I don't think abortion should ever be used as a means of birth control. I understand the argument that a woman is entitled to do with her body as she wishes, but I see another side. If a woman knows she doesn't want kids, it's her responsibilty, and hers alone, to do everything humanly possible to avoid getting pregnant. She should not leave the birth control up to the man. The man has no say whatsoever in whether or not she can abort, so he should not be left with the responsibilty of avoiding a pregnancy. The woman should do that---it's her body---the same argument she will use when it comes to abortion.

Being raped or incest occuring, I can see why someone who is totally against abortion might change their minds.

Just because you wasn't ready or One night stand Freddy isn't ready I totally disagree with.

I would like to know when do you all think life  starts?

When do you all think life ends?

There is no beginning. There is no end.

Every atom in your body was once part of something else. And when die, your atoms will eventually become part of some other living thing.

Now.... your soul.....?

I dont know if this answers your question, but once the fetus has a viable chance to live outside the womb, I am very much against abortion.

I saw my sons heartbeat at 10 weeks gestation. Wouldn't a beating heart be considered as being alive?

I have a great-niece who was born at 28 weeks. She weighed a little over 2 lbs and was 15 inches long. She was breathing on her own from the word go.
She is a perfectly normal 2 year old now who calls me and tells me she is jumping on the bed like a monkey. :thumps:

Awesome... Love hearing of things like this..

Abortion should never be an option late in a pregnancy.. NEVER. Late being 8 weeks... Maybe even sooner, case sensitive...

Abortion should not be considered in any "normal" situation... Ever!

There are some situations where abortion becomes an option.. IE. Rape.. Incest... Badly Malformed Fetus.. Life-Threatening Disease...

But even in some of these "rare" action-warranting cases -abortion should still be an absolute LAST resort!

I like Bo's poetic explanation of what happens to our bodies. It sounds a lot better than what a doctor once said to me: "Libby, when we die the worms eat us."

As for our souls, I think most of us assume we have one, and, like the words from the old hymn, "...the soul never dies." Libby

I definitely don't believe in abortion, unless to save a mother's life.  If abortion were popular years ago, some of us probably wouldn't be here today; especially those of us born to young teenage mothers.

I am totally against abortions,in most cases. But then again, who am I to tell a woman what to do with her body. That I feel is between her and God,it's not a mans place to tell her what is right or wrong. She can't tell me what to do with my body,so therefore I can't tell her, what to do with hers. But,I have to say this ,I know women that has had a abortion, and went into a very depressed state of mind, and had to be on medications for a long time, then became drug addicts or committed suicide, simply because they couldn't handle the pressure of going through it,and that was terrible on the families.

Using your logic of, can not tell her what to do with her body, we now have to make prostitution legal.
