Used to be that a lot of Bluefield, WV students paid tuition and went to Graham.  Does that still happen?

Two hundred and twenty five cross the border. Not all from Bluefield, lots from the county. They are escaping that thing called the West Virginia Education system.

By the way Gray, Bluefield has won eight (8) state football titles since 1959. Six (6) in AAA, and Two (2) in AA.  Now tell me Gray, how many titles has Princeton won?

First, Bluefield doesn't play anywhere near as tough a schedule as Princeton and you know it.
Second, I think it's some kind of mind game that Bluefield seems to have over Princeton, it's certainly not because they have more talent. In recent years there's been a lot more kids from Princeton go on to play at schools like VT, WVU, AND Pitt.

Lastly, Bluefield may have won more titles, but in the era that I went to school we always won the contests after the game, hands down.   :roflmao:

Another thing, I wouldn't be bragging too much about the win last year. Princeton turned the ball over five times and Bluefield only eked out a 10 to 7 win. Talk about an ugly ball game, both teams played awful.

We dont play near the schedule as Princeton. But we seem to beat them when we play them. Mind games. Yep, I think that is what you are playing here in this thread.

Gray, maybe Princeton should follow Bluefield Highs model. They should pad their schedule with teams like Princeton. Then have the fans carry voo-doo dolls into the stadium like we do, to jinx the other team.

Naw, we'd rather play a competitive schedule.  :39: BTW, I didn't hear a snappy comeback about the disparity of players from the two schools who go on to play division 1 ball in college.  :39:

AAA schools won't play AA schools. If a AA school beats a AAA, it lowers the rankings of the AAA team more than if they had been defeated by another AAA.  Even if Bluefield wanted to play AAAs, I doubt many would schedule with them.  Bluefield is definitely respected as a football great.  (I'm not from Bluefield.)

Well, the voodoo dolls were in place Friday night to cast a losing spell on the mighty tiggers from Princeton. The lowly AA team from Bluefield thumped the mighty AAA tiggers again. Tony wont gloat though.

Did you attend the game? I will say that Bluefield has some very talented players. That said, there was a total lack of class shown by both the fans and the team. I realize it wasn't all the players, or all the fans, but the poorly behaved overshadowed the good. While the dedication ceremony was being held at halftime the Princeton band was on the beaver sideline waiting to do their halftime performance. A large segment of fans continually spewed rude and crude comments to the band as they waited to take the field.  *nono*
On the field some of the players acted just as bad, drawing several personal fouls for unsportsmanlike conduct. At the end of the game they got at least two called for taunting while the tigers kept their composure and didn't retaliate in a similar manner. Sadly, in my mind coach Simons isn't much better. Even though the game was well in hand with a 20 to 0 score by late in the third quarter, he played his key players the entire game. Fortunately for them none received an injury which could have hurt the whole team. So much for letting the younger kids get some playing time in a big game.  :1: As I said earlier this behavior doesn't reflect the whole team which played a great game, but to me shows that Simons has got good players, but has failed in instilling discipline on the team.

Gray, did you attend the game? I didnt see any of the things you mentioned. I certainly didnt hear anyone razzing the band. Sure we got a few penalities, just as we did the first game, and I will say that one day this will bite us. As for substituting. Do you remember 2005 and the lead Princeton had and they kept trying to run it up and they didnt substitute? Also Gray, when talking about poor sportsmanship, do you remember the tee shirts that the Princeton kids had last year that said, "Bluefield Sucks", on the front, and on the back was a picture of Dick Cheney. Now Gray, what was the insinuation? Gray, it is Princeton that has no class.

Yep, I was at the game. Princeton may have kept trying to score in 2005, but there's one thing I'm sure of, it wasn't the starters. What do you expect when you put the kids in off the bench? Tell them to go on the field, but don't try and score?  :roflmao: I don't guess Bluefield would know about that since they didn't let the kids on the bench play. If you didn't see all the unsportsmanlike penalties at the end of the game you must not have been paying much attention.

I was at the game also about 6 rows behind the student section and didn't hear a word yelled at the band. A few were yelling I love you at a girl that used to live in Bluefield but nothing bad. Can you elaborate on the T-shirts the students wear around at sporting events? The front says Bluefield sucks, and on the back is a picture of DICK Cheney. Talk about classy. As for the schedule, we play a tough Graham team, William Campbell is a Va power house every year, Richlands has a 33 game win streak going in the regular season, and drfending Va state champs and state runner ups the year before. James Monroe is ranked 3rd in the state, and then we play #6 Scott to end the season. Oh yeah, we beat AAA Princeton earlier. We are not afraid to play AAA teams, a couple years #1 AAA undefeated Martinsburg came down and our lowly AA team sent them home with a loss. We were desperate for a 10th game and we were close to getting a game with AAAA powerhouse Ind. High out of Charlotte but it didn't work out last year. With all of these AAA conferences it is impossible to get a AAA game scheduled, we have tried.
