I suppose they're treating them like most other business's that have the misfortune of being in Bluefield. And they wonder why the town is dying.

The city lost money on them. When you have a liability, you cut it. I hope they end up in Princeton, but as I said, be prepared with what it brings.

I read about this, they lost $800!  Eight HUNDRED dollars...  Bring this into light, will you please...   The ppl who payed for the football field upgrade just shelled out over 700 thousand..  How does that compare...

700,000 dollars what a waste of money.  Look at what that could have been used for.  They could have played on grass and done just as good.

Probably better, and I seem to recall reading about how much more severe injuries are on Astro-Tough...

I guess we will see the hard way, huh...

The new type of turf is much different from earlier versions. Injuries are supposed to be less. Time will tell.

$800? $800? Heres what I read in the article,

Henne said Dudley requested changes in the contract for the 2006 season. Henne said attendance fell short of expectations for the second season, and the Barons fell behind in their contractual obligations to the city. He said the city subsequently entered into a supplemental agreement with the Barons, and agreed to allow the team to defer the $2,000 gate guarantee until the end of the season.

Calhoun said the total revenue from the Baron’s second season was $14,360.75 leaving the city with a $4,993.25 shortfall based upon the second contractual agreement.

$800, I dont think so.

I do apologize, I was sure I was correct in my figures, I got them from Anne Pettrey, the appropriator for the field...

Here's the question of the day. If Bluefield is such a small town that they don't even have a AAA high school, what in the world are they doing with a semipro football team in the first place?
