Blood:

$25 for first time donor
$15 if you bring a friend(limit one per week)
$10 any time after.

If you donoate blood and plasma you get banned from their system doing either.

Junior, I'm sorry but I don't see any connection between a blood donation and a mortgage interest deduction.

But I'll answer anyway. Do not touch the mortgage interest dedcution.

Unless you want to start talking about a "flat tax"

So...in other words...you're in favor of a deduction (mortgage interest) which will personally help *you*, but *not* in favor of a deduction (blood donation) which will help "others"?    :39:

I don't need material incentive to help others. I thought I made that clear earlier. If not, then I apologize.

You may not need a material incentive, but others do.   Why are the blood  banks now having drawings in order to get donors?   Didn't some southern WV blood banks just have a drawing for a Harley?

Bo, instead of a flat tax, have you read anything about the "Fair Tax".

If you get paid for giving blood and/or organs, whether up front or as a tax deduction, that is not a donation, and that is not charity.

But Libby, what do you do if donations of blood are down to critical. You wouldnt offer incentives, you would let people die?

Tony, you're talkin' to somebody who gives money to beggars. So no, I would not let people die. I would say, 'by all means offer incentives to those willing to sell their blood or organs.' Just don't call what they do 'charity.'
