There used to be a snake-handling church just outside of Princeton. A lot of the members were CBers, as was I. (This was some 30 years ago.) I remember one guy's "handle" was "Deadly Thing"...and he told me the origin of his handle. As time went on, fewer of the CBers were around as they had moved. I drove by the church one Sunday evening and nearly all of the cars were from Michigan. "Deadly Thing" said that many of their members had moved to Michigan. Eventually he disappeared from the scene, and the church changed hands.
I'll bet there's a "snake church" somewhere in Michigan.
I knew that family. When I was a teenager some friends and I tore down an old barn for the patriarch of the family. He cautioned us to be on the lookout for copperheads around the barn. He said if we were to see any just holler for him and he'd come and catch it. Thankfully, we didn't encounter any.

As far as their church goes, it's OK by me, just don't pass any snakes my way. As for the strychnine, many of us on this forum who were young in the sixties or seventies have ingested small amounts of that, on little squares of paper with cartoons on them, or little teeny pills called microdots, or barrels.
